The investment committee periodically assists the Manager in the review and consideration of potential investments. The current investment committee comprises Francis Daniels and Robert Knapp, in addition to Paul Brink, Konstantin Smirnov and Paul Garnett.
Mr. Brink is SVP Business Development for Franco-Nevada Corporation where he is responsible for resource royalty acquisitions and investments. He has a background in corporate finance, having been in mining investment banking at BMO Nesbitt Burns in Toronto and in project finance at the Union Bank of Switzerland. Mr. Brink has a M.Phil. in Management Studies from Oxford University and a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Mr. Smirnov is a Director of Investments at Baring Vostok Capital Partners in Moscow. BVCP manages over $1 billion in private equity funds in Russia and is presently investing its fourth fund. Previously, Mr. Smirnov worked at Millennium Partners LP, a multi-strategy hedge fund in New York. He has a MS in mathematics from Moscow State University and a MBA from Columbia University in New York.
Mr. Garnett was a portfolio manager for Ironsides Partners UK LLP. Previously he was a portfolio manager at Millennium Partners LP. Prior to joining Millenium, Mr. Garnett was on the sell side covering event driven and special situation sales to hedge funds. He has a First Class Honours degree in Banking & International Finance from City University London.
